About Us

Meet the PNO Team

Cajun Encounters Eco-Tours is locally-owned and operated by New Orleans natives who are passionate about their home town. The company was founded by owner Jeff Rogers, who grew up exploring the Louisiana countryside and fishing in the backyard. His passion for the outdoors led him to establish one of the largest and most successful tour companies in the Crescent City.

After nearly 20 years as the leading tour company in New Orleans, we’ve been consistently recognized for top customer ratings, and we still continue to grow.

Whether you’re meandering through a plantation of the Old South, taking a guided bus tour through the city, or gliding next to a giant gator, we promise to make your New Orleans vacation an unforgettable adventure.

About The Owner: Jeff Rogers grew up on the banks of the West Pearl River, about 3 miles from what is now the Cajun Encounters boat launch. His childhood and early teenage years were spent enjoying the Louisiana countryside.

While working at a steakhouse shortly after college to make ends meet, he started shuttling tourists from New Orleans to the West Pearl River, bringing them on personalized boat tours of the swamp. His enthusiasm as a tour guide earned him a dedicated following as word spread about his unique swamp tour. Whether it meant climbing into a tree to get the perfect shot or borrowing a van for his first big group, Jeff earned a lasting reputation for offering the most authentic, personalized boat tours in the city.

Taking tour reservations while he wiped down tables, winding his way through the chaotic French Quarter to pick up guests in his Pathfinder, Cajun Encounters was officially open for business in 1997.

Today, the company has grown into a network of tour and hospitality brands with over 200 employees and thousands of visitors passing through their doors each year.

But tourism isn’t about corporate success or consumer spending. At Cajun Encounters, we believe the travel industry is about bringing people out into the world, and showing visitors what’s so special about our corner of Louisiana.

We’re local, and we love our hometown.
Cajun Encounters is locally-owned and operated by people who genuinely care about the city, and the environment. We actively protect the historic landmarks and eco-systems we visit – check out our blog for more on how we’re minimizing our footprint and preserving the swamps.

We’d love to have you!

Leslie Landeche

Director of Group Sales, Pelican New Orleans

If she could be anywhere in the world: In the French Quarter on February 7, 2010 – when the Saints won the Super Bowl XLIV. Who Dat?!

The best part of her job: I LOVE creating completely unique experiences for groups and then seeing pictures/reading emails/thank you notes about their great time. It’s by far the best because there is a sense of excitement on both ends – they had a blast in a one-of-a-kind experience, and I got to play a part in that.

A little more about Leslie: New Orleans born and bred, Saints fan until I’m dead! Born and raised in the Greater New Orleans Area, I developed a strong passion and appreciation for my hometown at a very early age. From the fisherman’s paradise in Grand Isle, to the majestic Honey Island Swamp, to the awe-inspiring St. Louis Cathedral and mysterious French Quarter, all the way to the Lakefront of Lake Pontchartrain – the area is saturated with history, culture and adventure. Growing up, I wanted everyone to love New Orleans as much as I did. I attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations and focused on tourism, destination marketing, and hospitality management.
