Down here in the South, we love the holidays. There’s an extra sense of cheer that goes so well with the already wonderfully present Southern hospitality.
Not to mention, New Orleans is GORGEOUS this time of year. At night, a new mist blankets the city, lending a special glow to the antique streetlights and entry way lanterns throughout the French Quarter.
This year, the team at Cajun Encounters decided to start the holidays early. Led by our General Manager, Melissa Meilleur, we embarked on a toy drive before it was even time to chow down for Thanksgiving.
Thanks to her direction, we were able to come together to donate two full loads of toys to the Good Samaritan Ministry. These toys will go towards helping children throughout Slidell, Louisiana wake up to something under the tree this year.
Many, many thanks to Melissa and the rest of the team for all of their hard work and commitment to this project. We are proud to have such a outstanding team and to see everyone come together for such a heartwarming cause. Here’s to setting even higher goals for 2014!!
Below is a picture of just one of the loads of toys.
It’s hard to tell now, but the Crescent City is gearing up for Autumn.
Within weeks, the warm weather will start to feel breezy, the Honey Island Swamp will see migratory birds, the sun will set sooner, and tank tops will be replaced by (at least) long sleeved shirts.
What does this mean? Fun and excitement, of course!!
Whether you live here, or are in town for the Voodoo Music Experience, for Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas in New Orleans, there won’t be a shortage of things to do.
The Cajun Encounters team has been hard at work to prepare, too, ordering festive things for the gift shop, preparing inventory, and drilling down some extra fun things to suggest to our guests while they are in town.
How about you? What do you plan to do when the weather changes? Whatever it may be, remember that Cajun Encounters is here to help with your transportation, group tours, and dining!
Our tummies are still full from Thanksgiving, and we have to wear jackets from time to time, so that can only mean one thing – it’s the holiday season here at Cajun Encounters!
Everyone here is in the spirit, from the front desk team, to the drivers, the department heads, and even down to the mascot!
So if you haven’t taken a tour with us yet, now is the best time yet to visit the Honey Island Swamp, see the festivities of New Orleans, or take in the beautiful plantations of “plantation alley.” Tours depart several times a day.
We must warn you, though, our joy is a bit contagious! Don’t believe us? Give us a call.
