Team Cajun Encounters, Behind the Scenes!

As we head into days of beautiful weather down here in South Louisiana, team Cajun Encounters is kicking it into high gear behind the scenes to welcome all of our amazing guests to town.

We honored to have been chosen as the “go to” for so many in authentic, worthwhile tours of the swamp, city and cemeteries of New Orleans, and throughout “Plantation Alley,” but we’re beyond proud of the reservations team, dispatchers, tour boat captains, bus driver guides, mechanics, sales team, and every single person at Cajun Encounters who’s drive and love for hospitality has made such a thing possible.

Here’s a few photos of our team in action, making sure that tours not only meet, but exceed all expectations. They have it down to a science and we’re impressed by them each and every day.

If you’ve been impressed by their service recently, hearing about it will help make their day. Just post on Google + or Tripadvisor!

Our Tours Through Your Eyes!! “All Call” For Pictures 2014.

At Cajun Encounters, we love what we do. We appreciate meeting our guests, hearing where they are from, and learning about why they chose New Orleans, Honey Island Swamp, or “Plantation Alley” to visit.

When a guest sends us a “thank you” note, emails us about their experience, or sends us a picture, the entire team wants to see. In short, the chance to see our excursions through someone else’s eyes is a joy.

This week, we made an “all call” on our Facebook page for tour photos, and boy did we get feedback! We wanted to showcase some of the amazing images we received, so be sure to scroll down to check them out!

Carnival Season 2014 – Gearing Up for Mardi Gras in New Orleans

Mardi Gras lands on March 4th this year, which is a bit later than folks are used to down in the Crescent City.

What does a late Fat Tuesday mean? It means more time for celebration, more weekends for parades, and even the possibility of warmer weather to don our most festive gear. It means more chances to catch beads, more opportunities to hear some of the best marching bands in the country, and more time to bring family together for the occasion.

At Cajun Encounters, it means more chances to celebrate Carnival with you, our guests. Through our swamp tours, city cemetery excursions, and plantation tours, we get to elaborate on why our “Nola” is truly special and touch upon how taking part in the fun of Lundi Gras, Mardi Gras, and the days coming relates to our culture.

It’s no secret that we are proud of our heritage and jump at the chance to show guests around.

If you’re planning a trip to the Big Easy, we’d love the chance to show you too! Just reach out to us for more info on tour dates, excursion times, and pick up areas. You can also book easily and quickly online with some pretty great instant discounts.

Thanks for reading and be sure to check back with us from time to time for more news. Now, as they say, “laissez le bon ton roulet!”

Cajun Encounters Awarded 2013 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence

The world’s largest travel site has honored Cajun Encounters Tour Company with a prestigious award – the 2013 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence!!

Thanks to reviews from honored guests, hard work from our fabulous team, and interest from readers like you, we’ve been able to “push the envelope” in making fun, memorable, quality tour excursions. Our Honey Island Swamp Tours, New Orleans City Cemetery Tours, and Plantation Tours have come far, growing into tailor made experiences drawn from years of guest feedback.

Sites like TripAdvisor help us to brainstorm for new ideas and get an inside view of guests’ time with us. Community based, honest review sites like TripAdvisor help everyone, as businesses cannot pay to be listed, and therefore must work hard to be the best they can be. What an honor to receive an award through this forum.

The TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence celebrates hospitality excellence and is given to only 10% of businesses worldwide. You must consistently achieve excellent traveler reviews, maintaining an overall rating of four or higher, as well as have a high volume of feedback within the past year. Winners of the Certificate of Excellence are located all over the world and represent the upper echelon of businesses listed. We are so happy to bring the accolade down all the way to New Orleans.

World, Meet “Cochon.”

Thanks to everyone who submitted name suggestions for our adopted baby boar.

We’ve been overwhelmed, (in a good way), by the amount of feedback received through our Facebook page, email and Twitter accounts. It’s been a wild ride!

As you’ll recall, we adopted our little piglet a few weeks ago when he wondered away from his mother. Since then, we’ve built a very large pig pen out back for him, complete with his own “house,” running room, treats, and belly rubs throughout the day. He’s certainly been a hog for attention!!

The only thing needed to truly welcome this guy was a name of his own; and you all came to the rescue!

Some of the top names sent in were “Wilber,” “Porkchop,” “Cutie Pie,” and “Nola.” We had a team meeting and selected the top two for a run-off:

Nujac” (The word “Cajun” spelled backwards.)

Cochon” (Cajun French for “pig.”) and

In the end, Cajun French won out, for a memorable, fitting title. There were a few variations, but the one word name, “Cochon,” won out over its counterparts.

Pronounced “kosh-on,” the moniker was suggested by two of our Facebook fans. Each will be contacted shortly to receive their thank you gift of a FREE tour for two!!

Stay tuned for more pictures, news, and holiday fun from the team here at Cajun Encounters. Make sure to pay a visit, and meet our handsome new family member in his new home!
