History of the Running of the Bulls

Dating back to the 13th century in Northern Spain, cattle herders required a practical way to transport their valuable animals from the countryside into city centers for sale or bullfighting. Hence, it became customary to clear a narrow pathway into the city center, through which the hefty animals could run together into a bullring, following one brave herder.

However, with time, a new version of the Running of the Bulls emerged, but with a distinctive Big Easy twist. In New Orleans, we now have women on roller-skates with plastic baseball bats in place of actual bulls. The first-ever Running of the Bulls took place in the French Quarter in 2007, with a mere 200 fearless participants and 14 RollerBulls. Today, this feature has taken the city by storm, and thousands of attendees participate every year.
