Self-Driving Directions
Our facilities are located at 55345 US-90, Slidell, LA 70461. We offer free parking for all of our guests who prefer to drive themselves. From the French Quarter, take I-10 East toward Slidell (~35 miles). Take exit #263 for US-90 East and take a right-hand turn on-to US-90 East. Follow US-90 for ~2 miles and you will begin to see our signage.

Both tours are ~2 hours on the water. If you add hotel pickup, plan for a 4–5 hour total experience including the scenic 45-minute drive to and from the swamp.
Is hotel pickup available?
Yes. We offer round-trip transportation from select French Quarter hotels and downtown New Orleans visitor centers. Our modern, air-conditioned coaches include a knowledgeable driver who shares New Orleans history and tips during the scenic ride to Honey Island Swamp.
What should visitors wear or bring?
Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. We recommend closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, and a hat. In summer, light layers. In winter, a jacket — it’s cooler on the water. Our boats are covered, providing shade and rain protection.

We did a morning tour with bus pick up. Our driver was Dwayne and our Captain was Dustin—both were so engaging, friendly, and knowledgeable. We saw so much wildlife (egrets, herons, raccoons, snakes, turtles, and gators) and learned so much about the cypress swamp ecosystem. I highly recommend the Honey Island Swamp VIP tour.

Our driver Dwayne was the start of our experience with Cajun Encounters he was so informative and had such great energy— definitely so much fun during our ride to the tour to hype us up. He told us so much about the city and the wildlife around the areas we were passing through. Same with Captain Pat during our tour. He was so much fun and so knowledgeable about the wildlife and the area in general! We had such a great time from start to finish I couldn’t come up with a single complaint. 1000% believe the employees are the ones that help make the experience what it is and it’s absolutely been our favorite part of our trip to NOLA so far. 10/10 recommend doing the boat tour!!!

Our guide Derick did an amazing job today! We had a 40 minute drive to our gator tour and during he filled us in with all the amazing things New Orleans has to offer, including the best restaurants around! Also would highly recommend Cajun Encounters for a gator tour, we had Captain Steve and he also did a wonderful job and made the experience fun and exciting!
